Adaptive believes that to realize
the promise of SOA – business agility – that any SOA initiative
needs to be done in the context of Enterprise Architecture that allows
the Services to be aligned with business processes and, still more
importantly, longer term business objectives and information needs.
Adaptive is unique in bringing all these aspects together
in one repository, with full traceability from business motivation
through to business processes, applications, information (at different
levels of abstraction) and IT deployment. Allowing services and their
interactions to be architected in this broader context - thus avoiding
the trap of Just A Bunch of Web Services. And allowing the information
‘payload’ of services (typically defined by XML Schemas)
to be mapped against the persistent data (typically in relational
databases), where it will eventually reside and provide value to the
business. This mapping can either be direct, or by reference to a
common logical or conceptual model.
Adaptive was a prime mover of the Services
Oriented Architecture Special Interest Group within OMG,
that seeks to coordinate OMG activity and standards, and promote liaison
with other standards groups. And is part of the submission team creating
the UML Profile and Metamodel for Services. |
