Repository solutions, today jointly announced a new Project Portfolio
Manager product. For the first time ever, organizations can now take
complete control of large and complex portfolios of projects.
The Resilient/Adaptive Project Portfolio Manager™
(PPM) product goes beyond just managing budgets, resources and inter-dependencies
to focus on managing the context and content of the portfolio: fit
with the organization strategy, compliance with its Enterprise Architecture
and control of the overall business case. The product is designed
to easily capture pivotal project and architecture data in order to
keep alignment between organization strategy, the project portfolio
and inevitable real world changes. This way, an organization can continuously
manage portfolio performance based on strategies and business cases,
whilst optimizing budgets and resources in order to get maximum value
from the portfolio. PPM provides an organization with a top-down,
holistic and architected approach to Project Portfolio Management,
enabling effective Architecture implementation: the key next step
after creating an Enterprise or IT Architecture.
Project Portfolio Manager is developed as an Adaptation
on top of Adaptive Foundation™ and, as such, it leverages the
powerful features of this extensible repository platform:
- Using the repository technology to effectively manage many complex
relationships across the entire portfolio;
- Using the versioning capability for running extensive "what-if"
scenarios for approving, changing and closing projects against many
parameters;
- Using the reporting capability for running an impact analyses
of every possible change within the portfolio (such as project change
requests, interdependencies) or outside (such as changing strategy,
architecture principles/standards, budgets, resources);
- Using the role-based authorization capability for supporting the
different roles involved in the end-to-end PPM process and to minimize
complexity;
- Using the collaboration capability for implementing workflow,
resulting in task lists and automatic email exchanges for important
events and state changes.
Having accurate and real-time access to this critical
information will produce significant benefits such as:
- Focusing the organization effort on what is really important
- Lowering the cost of organization change initiatives by reducing
duplication and fragmentation and applying re-use across the portfolio

during the business case and project lifecycles. Because of this,
all important portfolio information is captured in a consistent way

The "heart" of the Project Portfolio Manager
is the Project Portfolio Planner Dashboard - a single screen that
centralizes all key decision making information for Project Portfolio
Managers and Executive Budget Committees. This powerful Dashboard
is used to assess the impact against the entire portfolio of each
new project charter, each new project and each change request of a
running project. Graphical gauges make it easy to quickly view the
progress of the portfolio against business cases or strategic objectives
as well as important indicators for risk, strategy and architecture.
This unique Project Portfolio Planner Dashboard is the control panel
for managing the portfolio of projects of a complex enterprise.
The Resilient/Adaptive Project Portfolio Manager product
is available as licensed software running on-site or as a securely
hosted ASP (Application Service Provider) service. The latter option
constitutes an easy-to-start, low TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) solution
to quickly reap the benefits without the need for product installation
and maintenance by the user organization. In addition, the product
is also available as part of a PPM Health Check Service, whereby Resilient
or Adaptive consultants check an organization's portfolio performance
against a set of key parameters. This information alone can add tremendous
bottom line value for an organization, by indicating how and where
to optimize the portfolio and related budgets and resources.
