Adaptive is a privately held company with its Headquarters in Aliso Viejo, California.

Adaptive’s roots began in 1994 when the National & Provincial Building Society (N&P) in the UK acquired both the engineering team of Virtual Software Factory Ltd and the software they had developed for N&P to run on Unisys' new Enterprise Repository product. After N&P itself was acquired by Abbey National in 1997, Adaptive was spun off to exploit core its meta-modeling capabilities to further develop and market its repository-based solutions.

In 2002, Adaptive merged with the US-based Business Analysis International to expand its activities from Europe to North America with an initial emphasis on offerings to the US Federal Government and Global 2000 enterprises.

In 2008, Adaptive moved it's Global Headquarters to Aliso Viejo, California.

Today, Adaptive continues to solidfy it's position as the leader in model driven development. It's product offerings including Metadata Manager, Enterprise Architecture Manager and IT Portfolio Manager provide the industry's only solution to create, maintain and transform the visibility between and within Business and IT.
